'57 Lambretta

I found a '57 Lambretta in my area for something like $800, but the person who answered the phone, not the owner, said some sort of coil is missing on the scoot. First is this a fair price for a non-working Lambretta missing a part, and second, if anyone knows what the hell I'm talking about, is that an easily replaceable part?
