"Big Bore Exhaust Question"

What's the difference between a stock Lambretta Exhaust and a Big Bore Exhaust? In photos they look very similar.

Its like the difference between a stock p pipe and a sito plus.

not much to look at it just IS.

Larger bore Ubend, and a pseudo-expansion cone leading into the box makes all of the difference in back preassure and compression.

I'd say the big benefit is a little more low- and mid-range grunt.

If you're oogling that one on ebay remember that the only big bore exhausts to buy are the AF Rayspeed ones.

I think the AFs are made in India, which means that other people are probably selling the exact same ones. I may be wrong so dont crucify me foif I am.

My Nikes are made in Nam but that doesn't mean they're a death trap. The AF ones have the logo stamped into them so I would surmise they're not the same exact production run as the generic ones. I would hope that they would be of better build quality if they're going to bear that brand. I do have one and the finish looks a million times better than the cheaper, basic ones.

anything made in india is going to be copied. that's just the nature of the beast over there. the af pipe does seem to be of a better quality though - at least from what i've seen.

there are also two new big bores out in the uk right now. one made by tino saatchi and the other made by casa lambretta. they are too new to know how they will perform for different setups.

According to what a fairly reputable parts dealer told me, the AF rayspeed big bores are available as generics without the stamp. But, they're still made by the same Indian plant.

This could just be the parts guy I know boosting his stuff. EVen if it is so, it creates a problem with distinguishing the good ones from the bad ones.

Good luck,

Aaron

i have run both... the differences are night and day. I had a generic one on my Jet for about 3 months and then bought the AF one... well worth the money.

I am looking at ASC's big bore px150 exhaust for the VBB/DR/177 motor.

Better than stock px150 pipe?

I have an AF stamped one. The paint came off pretty damn easily, and now it's nothing special to look at, but I really don't give a fuck anyway.

and for the record, I love anything and everything that comes from India!
