VIN says LAWRX200, front says Strada. I hope this is not the actual VIN because it's supposed to be 17 char long. This is REALLY interesting. They show Vento's tech support number in the ad. So is Vento and Strada the same company? Manufactured by Jmstar? I wonder how they got 155cc engine displacement instead of stock 150? If they really did, is EPA aware of this? I like this statement: "HYPERTUNED EDITION - NEW: AIR REDUCTION SYSTEM" don't they mean induction?

Really, you should know better Baron. Yamati/Strada is a product of PSF, a perfectly legit outfit but one of your competitors......hmmm. Isn't it all about scooting anymore. I could post a pic of my scooter family from top to bottom. Geely X-1, UM Matrix 150, Vespa ET4. We all get along quite nicely. It's time for this section of the board to be shut down IMHO. Lee

The idea behind this forum is a good one. There are a lot of illegal scooters out there for sale. However, like any other open system, it is only as good as the people involved in it.

Hey thats my scoot! No really its mine, I bought it last week and had them prep it for me. Its sitting in the showroom now until it stops raining and I go pick it up. Here is a quote from Alan at PSF regarding the engine:

"This scooter "The RX200HP" has a completely different top end than any
other GY6 engine. It is a 155cc engine from the factory and uses an air
induction system located at the top of the cylinder head / valve cover. It
is a proprietary design of Qianjiang.

Alan Leson
General manager"

The number that you are referring to is the stock number, they have to get the VIN out of the box which they do when you purchase it. Don't worry that they are selling my scoot, they have more in the back they just dont have pictures of some of the colors being as they are so new. I can't yet comment on the ride of it as I dont have it yet but I will be down there as soon as this damn rain stops!

   Mantis,

I'm seriously interested in Yamati/Strada/Vento relationship. Is this all one company? I thought Strada was someone else's registered trademark? Can you shed any light on this?

I can do my best but as maybe you can tell I am fairly new to the world of scooters. I totaled my car the other day and living in the city started noticing all these scoots around. I thought to myself hey what a good idea! In any event I did a fair amount of research before I purchased, whether or not it is enough remains to be seen. Ok, now for your questions, as far as I can tell they are all the same company. PSF seems to do the majority of their business with other dealers/vendors. They told me that they do little retail although it does happen. While they have a showroom setup it seems to be a mix of different scoots as well as their prototype scoots. This is why they used my scoot for pictures as they only had pics of the orange one before. I originally asked them about Vento and they sort of pushed the question back like they weren't really affiliated. I then had some time to wait while doing the paperwork and got to talking with some of the people in the office. If you notice they hold both a vento website as well as the vento 888#. In addition they had stacks of the Vento owners manuals in the office and when they brought a scoot around so I could see/hear it, it was none other than a p4i. Now when I did research on the Vento they claim they are out of Texas (used to or tried to do assembly there, ie made in USA). My thought is that PSF is who they are getting their scoots from. As I understand it there are maybe a few engine manufacturers in China and about 20 parts vendors. So the companies source the parts (usually the same as in the body panels) and stick their engine in it. This accounts for the subtle differences with all these clones. Strada is PSF's brand, everything they sell there or atleast in the showroom is Strada. Doing various searches on line for Strada I do see various motorcycles with that name which seem to be from a different company. So as to the registering of the trademark I have no idea. Now you raised a good point in regards to Yamati most of these scoots say Yamati somewhere, you will notice the winged emblem they attach to the front that say Yamati. They rx200hp also says Yamati with a huge sticker. So I think that Qianjing makes the engine and builds them into these three brands. You will notice the Yamati brand on many ATVs. Then PSF badges them as Strada. In their auctions they have a note that they are "Original Manufacturer Of ALL STRADA MOTORCYCLES!!" Now in regards to the rx200hp as I understand this was a request from Puerto Rico for the design. So my best guess is that they act as the middleman for many places and if you order in a large enough quantity with sufficient lead time they will badge it for you. So as far as I can tell they are all the same: being Qianjing scoots supplied from PSF. I guess one way of verifying this would be to send someone to the factory in China to poke around...hmmm. Well thats all I got for now but I do have to go back so maybe I can find out a little bit more.

-By the way you have some nice scooters, if PSF wasn't 15 minutes away I would seriously consider a Baron. Also it seems like you are very active in the community here and working hard on your scoots and in getting all the proper certs etc. For this I commend you and say keep up the good work!

This is very interesting. Someone is definitely stepping on someone else's toes. If you check the gallery, you will see photographs of a Strada bike that is made by Jmstar, definitely not the Qianjiang.

Hmm... just checked Jmstar's site (http://jmstar-moto.com) and didnt see one. Although like I said there are many parts manufacturers to source from as I am sure you know. In China also there are no rules about copying. In fact often they encourage it, I know. Who makes your bikes/scoots?

   Ellen,

This is not our bike. I know exactly where this bike is made and it's not from our factory. Most factories assemble their own engines. THey buy parts from various suppliers (aluminum moulds, gears etc), then have an assembly line where the engines are put together. At good factories engines go through 30 minutes of run time, then installed in the bike and the bike goes on a dyno tester. Every one of them.

Personally... I couldn't give a rat's ass where you get you bikes from. As long as you support them, support scootering, support this BBS....
I hope you make a million bucks. Thanks for bringing affordable scooters to the "masses"

Just a few factories produce 18 million engines a year? Unlikely.

The company you linked to looks budget, not exactly like an importer not to mention AZ wouldn't be good for that.

Then you have another company calling their scooter a "Strada" yet the picture is of a Roketa (rocky)

www.awesomebuggys.com

If powersports factory does indeed have a TM on that Strada name, i would think this would be an infringement.

   Dear Baron,

Vento, Yamati and Strada are OEM brands manufactured by Qianjiang Motorcycles.

Power Sports Factory is sole manufacturer of Stradas, Motostradas and Yamati. Tademarked in USA and China. Many of our dealers/distribuors use our pictures on theor web.

Note: Jmstar is owned by Jonway.

Does this mean that Strada that is imported by Jmstar Powersports USA is infringing on your rights?
